Flashcards
Constants, Variables, Data Types, Data Structures and Booleans
Cards in this deck (17)
- 1What is data?Facts and figures with no context or format therefore no meaning eg. 6, 8, 5.
- 2What is information?Data with context or format so it conveys meaning eg. ages of people in a group: 6, 8, 5.
- 3What is a constant?Something that doesn't change in the code.
- 4What is a literal?A literal is data that is shown directly in the code, rather than indirectly through a variable or function.
- 5What is a variable?Something that will change in the code.
- 6What is an identifier?Used to tell you what a constant is showing therefore giving it a name.
- 7What is a data type?Something that displays data in different formats and is used to make code easier to read and understand.
- 8What is an array?A list of data or information.
- 9What is a one-dimensional array?A normal list eg. football teams = liverpool, man united, chelsea.
- 10What is a multi-dimensional array? An array of arrays eg. a table with an array in one row and another in the next row and so on.
- 11What are Boolean expressions?Logical data types that use the relational operators AND, NOT, OR and TRUE/FALSE.
- 12Arithmetic Operations?+ - Addition
- - Subtraction
* - Multiplication
/ - Division
DIV - Integer Division
MOD - Modulus - 13Comparison Operations?< - Less Than
> - Greater Than
<= - Less Than or Equal To
>= - Greater Than or Equal To
<> - Not Equal To
= - Equal To - 14Primitive Data Types (Numeric)?Byte
Short
Int
Long
Float
Double - 15Primitive Data Types?Char
Boolean - 16What is a data structure?Data stored together in a structured form.
- 17Why do we use data structures? To make code a lot easier to read and to make it shorter.
