Question Answer
Meta-analysis - Poor study design Arising from subtle differences between tools, sub-factors, contexts; different definitions of same tool across organisations
Meta-analysis - Small Sample Sizes Differing population constituents (re sex, race, ethnicity, experience etc.) Homogeneity of sample
Meta-analysis - Inadequate data used Only measured against those who passed the test (i.e. not those who failed - restricted data); based on job appraisals, which have own problems of politics
Meta-analysis - Situational Specificity Variations in validities from different settings are interpreted as genuine statistical artefacts, hence under m-a tend to get averaged out. Thus, detail of true differences is lost; Effect of raising mean value, and shrinking the variance.
