AQA Mathematics (A) Numbers Flash Cards
Cards in this deck (15)
- 1ADDITION- Taking the first number and going up the amount of numbers the second number say:
e.g. 2+4=6 - 2BODMAS/BIDMASThe order in which you should solve an equation with more than one technique:
B- Brackets
O/I- Operation/indicies (Squared, cubed...)
D- Division
M- Multiplication
A- Addition
S- Subtraction - 3BOUNDS- Finding the highest and lowest possible number for a number rounded too a certain decimal place or nearest integer
- E.g. 0.1 to 1d.p.
Upper bound 0.15
Lower bound 0.05
(Use .5 not .49) - 4DIVISION- Division is finding out how many times the second number goes into the first:
- E.g 10/5 is 2, as 2 5's are needed to make 10 - 5EQUIVALENCEThis is where you switch from answer from one form to another:
You can switch between:
Decimals, Percentages and Fractions
e.g. 0.1 = 10% = 1/10 - 6ESTAMATIONThis is when given complex numbers you round up or down to the nearest most appropriate numbers:
E.g. 4300 x 5900
Becomes 4000 x 6000 - 7FACTORS-Numbers a number can be divided by to make an integer
-The factors of 10 are:
1, 2, 5, 10. - 8FACTORS (PRIME)- Prime numbers are number which only have the factors 1 and itself. e.g 3
Highest prime factors are where you find the factors of a number such as 10 (1,2,5,10) and then state which one is the highest prime number, in this case 5 - 9FACTOR TREES- Splitting a number into a factor and a prime if possible. Then turn the non-prime number into a factor and prime. Keep doing this till the end of every chain is a prime number. Then write your answer as all the primes times each-other.
- 10FRACTIONS- Fractions are a certain amount of a certain area/thing.
- If there are 10 slices of pie and I eat 1 then I have eaten 1/10 of the pie and 9/10 remain. - 11FRACTIONS (ADDING)Normal Fractions:
- Find the lowest common denominator.
- Times the numerators by what you time it denominator by to get the LCD.
- Add the numerators and put them over the LCD.
1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6 - 12FRACTIONS (ADDING MIXED)- Convert the mixed fraction into a "top-heavy" fraction.
- Do the same process as normal fraction adding.
-Convert back into a Mixed fraction - 13FRACTIONS (SUBTRACTING)lll
- 14INTEREST- Simple:
Adding the same amount each year:
10% increase per year on £1000
Y1= £1100 Y2= £1200
- Compound:
the amount you add increases as the figure increases
10% increase per year on £1000
Y1= £1100 Y2= £1210 - 15MULTIPLES- Numbers which can be divided by the original number to make an integer
2= 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 ETC....
