Flashcards
Types of processing
Cards in this deck (9)
- 1What is batch processing? All transactions are saved until a specific time when they are processed together in one go.
- 2Advantages of batch processing-Doesn't slow down the computer system as the processing can be done when the system has a low amount of traffic.
-Information tends to be extremely accurate due to the time available in between which can be used for error checking. - 3Disadvantages of batch processing-Slow due to large amounts of transaction being taken place.
-Have to wait for the transaction compared to interactive or transaction which is processed immediately. - 4What is interactive processing?in this type of processing there is interaction between the computer and the user. The user reacts to prompts from the computer and the computer uses these prompts to process data.
- 5Advantages of interactive processing-Interactive processing occurs in real time so the transaction is completed straight away.
-The output is controlled by the user - 6Disadvantages of interactive processing-More computers are required compared to batch processing which can process multiple transactions on one computer
- 7What is transaction processing?Transaction processing allows many users to access and update a system at the same time. Each transaction has to be completed before another can begin.
- 8Advantages of transaction processing-Transaction response time is immediate
-Data is processed as demanded
-Error connection can be immediate - 9Disadvantages of transaction processing-Backup is critical to ensure that data isn't lost
-If the data in the transaction was wrong, the whole transaction will need to be done again
