Question Answer
Word equation for Photosynthesis Carbon Dioxide+Water->Glucose+Oxygen 6CO2+6H2O->C6H12O6+6O2
Why do multicellular organisms require complex transport system for gas exchange, but single celled organisms do not? -The surface area to volume ratio is bigger for the single celled organism , compared to the multi-cellular organism. -Diffusion would not be efficient enough due to the thickness in a multicellular organism.
What is the Xylem made out of? Lignin
What do the Xylem cells transport and what to/where from? They transport water and minerals up to the stem from the roots to the shoots and leaves. This transport occurs in only one direction.
What does the Phloem transport and what to/where from? They transport sugars produced in the leaves up and down the stem to the storage tissues.
What is Transpiration? Loss of H2O from the leaves by evaporation
