Math - Final Exam Revision

Eva Goethals Math Revision - Final Exams English 16 cards

Cards in this deck (16)

  1. 1FactorFactors are what we can multiply to get the number.
"Factors" are the numbers we can multiply together to get another number:
    2 and 3 are factors of 6
  2. 2MultipleMultiples are what we get after multiplying the number by an integer (not a fraction).
    So we know that 12 is a multiple of 3, as 3 × 4 = 12
  3. 3RevolutionRevolution = One complete turn / One revolution = 360
  4. 4ReflexReflex Angle = Between ½ and 1 turn
A reflex angle has size between 180 and 360
  5. 5ObtuseObtuse Angle = Between ¼ and ½ turn
An obtuse angle has size between 90 and 180
  6. 6AcuteAcute Angle = Less than a ¼ turn
An acute angle has size between 0 and 90
  7. 7StraightStraight Angle = ½ turn
    1 straight angle = 180
  8. 8Right angleRight Angle = ¼ turn
    1 right angle = 90
  9. 9BIDMASBrackets
    Indices and Roots
    Division
    Multiplication
    Addition
    Subtraction
  10. 10complementaryTwo angles are Complementary when they
add up to 90 degrees (a Right Angle right angle)
These two angles (40° and 50°) are Complementary Angles, because they add up to 90°:
Notice that together they make a right angle right angle.
    complementary angles 27 and 63
But the angles don't have to be together.
    These two are complementary because 27° + 63° = 90°
  11. 11vertically oppositeVertically Opposite Angles are the angles opposite each other when two lines cross
"Vertical" in this case means they share the same Vertex (corner point), not the usual meaning of up-down.
    vertically opposite a and b
Example: a° and b° are vertically opposite angles.
The interesting thing here is that vertically opposite angles are equal:
    a° = b°
  12. 12parallelLines are parallel if they are always the same distance apart (called "equidistant"), and will never meet. Just remember:
Always the same distance apart and never touching.
Parallel lines also point in the same direction.
  13. 13co-interiorWhen two lines are crossed by another line (called the Transversal):
The pairs of angles on one side of the transversal but inside the two lines are called Consecutive Interior Angles.
    consecutive interior angles
To help you remember: the angle pairs are Consecutive (they follow each other), and they are on the Interior of the two crossed lines.
Parallel Lines: When the two lines being crossed are Parallel Lines the Consecutive Interior Angles add up to 180°.
  14. 14SupplementaryTwo Angles are Supplementary when they add up to 180 degrees.
These two angles (140° and 40°) are Supplementary Angles, because they add up to 180°:
Notice that together they make a straight angle.
    supplementary angles 60 and 120
But the angles don't have to be together.
    These two are supplementary because
    60° + 120° = 180°
