ATTACHMENT The emotional bond that typically develops between an infant and its caregiver.
PRIMARY ATTACHMENT FIGURE The person who has formed the closest bond with the child. Normally a mother but can be anyone.
LEARNING THEORY An explanation which explains behaviour in terms of learning rather than biologically inherited.
OPERANT CONDITIONING Baby performs action: cries --> Baby receives rewards: food -->The reward reinforces the action, so the baby repeats it.
CLASSICAL CONDITIONING Food (UNCONDITIONED STIMULUS) --> Baby feels pleasure (UNCONDITIONED RESPONSE TO FOOD Mother (NEUTRAL STIMULUS) + Food (US) = Baby feels pleasure (UCR) Mother (CS) --> Baby feels pleasure (CR to mother)
