MYP Year 7 - Math - Flash Cards
Cards in this deck (35)
- 1Define "Reflection"Object and Images are the same distance from the line of symmetry (Mirror Line). If you joined an object point and its image point it would cross the mirror line at 90 degrees.
- 2Define "Rotation"The action of rotating around an axis or center.
- 3Define "Rotational Symmetry"This state how many times a shape like itself in one full turn.
- 4Define "Enlargement"Enlargement makes a shape bigger (or smaller) depending on the scale factor. A scale factor of 3 means the new shape will me 3 times as big as the original. A scale factor of 1/2 means it will be half the size.
- 5What is a "Line Graph"?When a line is given to us in the form of an equation "y-mx+c"
- 6What does the coefficient of "x" mean?The coefficient of x if the gradient/steepness.
- 7Define "Translation"A move in an object from one place to another. Usually we use a "Vector of Translation". Negative means left and positive means right on the top. Negative means down and positive means up on the bottom.
- 8What is the order of operations? It is the order in which you solve a problem. Parentheses first, Exponents and Roots next, Multiplication and Division and Addition and Subtraction last.
- 9What are reciprocalsReciprocals are the invert of the fraction.
- 10What is the top and the bottom of a fraction called?Numerator and Denominator
- 11How do you increase and decrease percentages? To calculate the percentage increase: First: work out the difference (increase) between the two numbers you are comparing. Then: divide the increase by the original number and multiply the answer by 100. If your answer is a negative number then this is a percentage decrease.
- 12If you add up all the interior degrees in a quadrilateral, what does it add up to?360 degrees
- 13If you add up all the interior degrees in a triangle, what does it add up to?180 degrees?
- 14If you add up all the interior degrees in a pentagon, hexagon, decagon, what does it add up to540 degrees, 720 degrees, 1440 degrees.
- 15Define "Ratios"he quantitative relation between two amounts showing the number of times one value contains or is contained within the other
- 16What are the 4 types of angles in parallel lines?Interior, Alternate and Corresponding and Vertically Opposite Angles (VOA)
- 17How do you simplify ratiosThe same way as you would do with fractions. 1/3 is the same as 2/6. Just as 1:3 and 2:6.
- 18How do you find the area of a 3D shapesFind the area of the face of the shape and stretch it across the shape.
- 19How do you find the are of a circle?πr2
- 20How do you find the circumference of a circle?2πr
- 21What is the formula to find the area of a triangle?b × h × ½
- 22What is the formula to find the area of a squareb × h
- 23What is the formula to find the area of a trapezoid?(a + b × 1/2) × d
- 24What is the formula to find the area of a parallelogram?b × h
- 25What are the properties of interior angles. They add up to 180 degrees.
- 26What are the properties of Corresponding Angles. They have the same degrees.
- 27What are the properties of Vertically Opposite AnglesThey are vertically opposite from each other.
- 28What are the properties of Alternate anglesThey have the same degrees.
- 29Factorise 4j3+8j2+7j+14(4j2+7)(j+2)
- 30Factorise 6x + 246(x +4)
- 31Factorise 8x²− 8x4x(2x-2)
- 32Factorise 6x² + 8x + 12yx2x(3x + 4 + 6y)
- 33Multiply out 3n(5n + 7)15n² + 21n
- 34Multiply out 3x(5x + 5a)15x² + 15ax
- 35Multiply out 15ax(1ax + 5x)15a²x² + 75x²
