Flowchart content
Invertebrates
Sponges
Cnidarians
Echinodermes
Worms
Mollusks
Arthropods
Have a stinging cell and they take food into their bodies
Body Structure with no body symmetry and no tissues but the y have cells with special funtions
internal skeleton and water vascular system
Big narrow bodies without legs; with a head/tail with bilateral symmetry; tissues, organs, body systems and a brain
Soft unsegmented bodies often protected by a hard shell
an external skeleton, segmented bodies and jointed appendages; for protection they periodically shed; also prevent water loss
Collar Cells-whiplike cells that move H2O
Pores-move water into the central cavity
Jelly Like Cells-digest and distribute food
Spike-support and protect
sexual reproduction-have both sexes
Polyp-mouth opens at the top; tendrils around mouth for attaching to something-reproduce asexually
Medusa-bowl shaped; mouth opens downward; made for swimming; reproduces sexually
Ex. Coral and hydra
jelly fish
Characteristics-live in salt water; body parts come in multiples of five; hardened plates of skin stretched over and internal skeleton that provides support
4 Types:
Sea Stars
Brittle Stars
Sea Urchins
Sea Cucumbers
Water Vascular
System-internal organ system of fluid filled sacs; tubes squeeze the force of water into feet which helps the echinoderms move
reproduce sexually and they are both male and female
Flat-flat bodies-parasites, ie tapeworms and flukes
Round-cylinder bodies-tiny; one way-enclosed; ie. hookworms
Segmented-made from segments with digestive system and well developed; closed circulatory system; ie. earthworms
internal organs located in one area with a thin layer of tissue; foots are an organ used for specific functions; open circulatory system
Gastropods have one to no shell; move by creeping along a broad foot; ooze mucus to make moving easy
Bibvalves-2 shells held together by hinged and musc feeders; they stay unmobile;
snails-slugs
clams, scallops, mussels
Cephalopods-aquatics with tentacles to catch prey and they are carnivorous
