MISTAKES AND FEEDBACK

1. The feedback is a qualitative pedagogical exercise, which generates a good correction of the errors and mistakes generated mainly by misunderstandings during the imput.

   • This correction feeds the knowledge and lessons previously seen so that the themes are finally acquired and understood.
   • There are other ways which generate mistakes in the students processes (associated with misunderstandings) such as :
     • L1 Interference.
     • Developmental errors.
   • Not all errors are equal, not all of them disappear after correction and evaluation, many of them are difficult to deal with and depend on the student's internal factors.

2. Feedback on written work.

   • The way in which written work is evaluated and fed back depends on the type of work and creativity that the student is asked for.
     • Correction and feedback by coding.
     • Correction and feedback by responding.
     • In an academic, investigative work or in the answer to a specific question the fact of reaching the main point of the problem is qualified, in a more creative work such as a story, poem or review the creativity and ability to give ideas of the student is sought .

3. Students´ performance assessment

   • Assesment of student performance can be given by the teachers and themselves, but, the teacher takes the decision about the evaluator, depending of the type of work.
     • Students assessing themselves.
       • Qualitative and quantitative evaluation.
     • Teachers assessing students.
       • Reports.
       • Comments
       • Marks and grades.
       • The final assessment can be mixed between the the student and teacher aspects

4. Feedback during oral work.

   • The reaction to the performance of the student during an oral work is different from the written one, the evaluation is done during the exercise and is based on two relevant aspects, it is important to know that the oral work should not be interrupted.
     • Feedback during fluency work.
       • 1. Gentle correction during the work.
       • 2. Recording errors during the work.
       • 3. Feedback and correction after the event.
     • Feedback during accuracy work.
       • Showing incorrectness.
         • 1. Repeating.
           • 2. Echoing.
