Critical Thinking

  1. This is a way of approaching a question that allows us to carefully deconstruct a situation, reveal its hidden issues, such as bias and manipulation, and make the best decision.

    • If the critical part sounds negative that's because in a way it is. Rather than choosing an answer because it feels right, a person who uses critical thinking subjects all available optoions to scrutiny and skepticism.
    • Using the tools at their disposal, they'll eliminate everything but the most useful and reliable information.
  2. 1. Formulate your question.

    • Know what you're looking for. This isn't always as straightforwad as it sounds.
      • For example, if you decide to exercise, other factors may affect your decision, but if you take your focus more clearly on what you want to achieve, you will find what you are really looking for.
  3. 2. Gather your information.

    • There's lots of it out there, so having a clear idea of your question will help you determine whats relevant.
      • For example, if you are looking for exercises for whatever you occupy, whether it be losing weight, for health or being stronger, you are looking for an expert on the subject, to do what you need and want, collect information, will give you more options, what that brings you closer to the decision that will help you reach your goal.
  4. 3. Apply the information.

    • Something you do by asking critical questions. Facing a decision, ask yourself, what concepts are at work?, what assumptions exist? and is my interpretation of the information logically sound?
      • For example, if you want to buy something on the internet, you must take into account what factors are at risk in this situation, is the seller telling the truth? is it original?, based on the evidence, is it logical that he wants to sell it cheaper?
  5. 4. Consider the implications.

    • For example, if you buy something on the internet, at first glance, it looks great in the photo, but if you order it there is the risk that it will not look the same in person, the size will be different or that your package will never arrive.
  6. 5. Explore other poits of view.

    • For example, you need to research other online sellers or official and review sites to consider other options, evaluate your decision and ultimately help you make an informed decision.
