                        Annotations:

                        • A new voting system in which each representative would have an individual vote.. The members of the third estate declared themselves the true representatives of the nation. Then they formed a National Assembly and demanded a constitution.
                        1. The Constituent Assembly.

                          Annotations:

                          • A Constituent Assembly was elected ti write a constitution.  iN 1791 the constituents Assembly adopted constitution wich established a contitutional moarchy, popular sovereignity, the separation of powers and limited male suffrage.
                          1. The Legislative Assembly.

                            Annotations:

                            • Legislative Assembly was elected to implement the necessary legal changes. Two groups dominated this assembly. Girondins and Jacobins.
                            1. The Convention.

                              Annotations:

                              • After the Convention, Louis CVI was accused of treason and then executed. The jacobins took control of government and imposed a DICTATORSHIP.
                              1. The directory and the Consulate.

                                Annotations:

                                • In 1795 Frances moderate middle class had gained control of the country. In order to stop violence they established the Directory that was a conservative government, In 1799 France was still in a war. General Napoleon Bonaparte organices military coup and established a new form of government called the Consulate.
