RAPTOR
Is a programing development environment based in flowcharts
- It is designed for ease of use
- Minimizes the amount of syntax you must learn in order to write correct instructions
- It is a visual environment, so its easier to follow the flow of instruction execution
- Its objective is to teach beginning programers how to design and execute algorithms
- The error messages are designed to me faster understanded
Flowchart structure of algorithms
- It means a set of connected symbols that represent actions to be performed
- End
- End of the algorithm
- Start
- Start of the algorithm
- Input Statement
- Allows to enter data and store it in a variable
- Output Statement
- Display the value of a variable
- Assignment Statement
- Change de value of the variable using matematicas operations
- Procedure Call
- Execute instructions defined in the named procedure
- End
- It means a set of connected symbols that represent actions to be performed
Variables
- Are computer memory locations that hold data value
- Automatically created when they are first used in a statement
- Examples
- X<---14
- Assigns the data value 14 to variable X
- X<---X+1
- Retrieves the current value of X, 14, adds 1 to it, and puts the result, 15, in the variable X
- X<---X*2
- Retrieves the current value of X, 15, multiplies it by 2, and puts the result, 30, in the variable X
- X<---14
- Their changing data values enable a program to act differently every time its executed
- They should be given a meaningful and descriptive name by the programmer
- Are computer memory locations that hold data value
Common errors and their causes
- 1. "Variable X does not have a value"
- The variable has not been given a value
- The variable name was misspelled
- 2. "Can`t assign string to numeric variable X" "Can`t assign numeric variable X"
- Your statements attempt to change the data type of a variable
- 1. "Variable X does not have a value"
Comments
- Are used to explain some aspect of a program to the person who is reading
- Programmer Header
- Documents who and when the program was written, and a general description of what it does
- Section Description
- Mark major sections of the program for easier understanding of its structure
- Logic Description
- Explain non-standard logic
- Programmer Header
- Are used to explain some aspect of a program to the person who is reading
