1.1 System Architecture
Registers
- Registers are located within the CPU and are components that are used for short term memory. An example of a register is an Accumulator which is used to store the last value used so it can speed up the process if used again.
Embedded Systems
- An embedded system is a system built into a device that runs a specific function such as finding a location. The purpose of embedded systems is to provide specific functions
ALU
- The ALU (Arithmetic logic unit) is used to preform arithmetic and logical operations
Cores in a processor
- If a processor has more cores it can execute more instructions at a time meaning it will be faster, it also allows more programs to be run
