1. Optical storage

   • CD
   • Blu Ray
   • DVD
   • Not very durable. They can scratch and break easily.
   • Really portable and can be played on lots of devices

2. Magnetic storage

   • External hard drive
   • Magnetic hard drive
   • Slower read/write speed in comparison to solid state storage
   • High capacity (stores a lot of data)

3. Solid state(flash) storage

   • Solid state hard drive
   • Playstation memory card
   • USB memory stick
   • Excellent read/write speed. (it loads and saves data quickly)
   • Not good capacity compared to magnetic storage

4. It is non-volatile storage. It is needed in a computer system to store your programs,operating system and files.

   • Non-volatile means that the data is not deleted when the computer system has no power connected to it.
