BODY CAVITIES (ANIMAL NURSING)

  • spaces within the body the house the internal organs
  1. DORSAL

    • CRANIAL
    • VERTERBRAL
  2. VENTRAL

    • THORACIC
      • includes: -Heart -Major Blood And Lymph Vessels Such as: Aorta,  Thoracic Duct LungsBronchiTracheaThymusOesophagusLymph NodesNerves
      • PLEURAL
        • SEROSA (SEROUS MEMBRANE) = PLEURA
          • is the serious membrane lining the thoracic cavity, covering the organs within it. contains serous fluid- Fluid secreted by serous membranes that reduces friction in the serous cavities (pleural, pericardial, and peritoneal).
          • PARIETAL PLEURA
            • It is the outermost of the pleural membranes, which are two in number, and forms a lining for the chest cavity (lines inside of the ribs) that contains the lungs’ (know your body, 2017)
          • VISCERAL PLEURA
            • are the thin serous membrane tissue layer that covers the surface of each lung.
      • MEDIASTINUM
        • CAUDIAL
          • Next to diaphragm, behind heart and contains: -Oesophagus -Aorta -Vena Cava -Thoracic duct
        • MIDDLE
          •    contains: -Heart -Trachea -Bronchi -Oesophagus
        • CRANIAL
          • in front of the heart and contains: -Trachea -Oespohagus -Lympth nodes -Thymus
    • ABDOMINOPELVIC
      • ABDOMINAL
        • includes:-Major Organs Of Digestion such as: PancreasSpleenKidneysReproductive OrgansBladderAdrenal Glands Major Blood VesselsMajor Nerves And Lymph Nodes
      • PELVIC
        • includes:   -Rectum -Urethra -Reproductive Structures such as:The Prostate And VaginaPelvic Fat Lymph Nodes   Not lined with serous membranes!
      • SEROSA (SEROUS MEMBRANE)= PERITONEUM
        • the serous membrane which line the abdominal cavity, and covering the abdominal organs
        • PERITONEAL CAVITY
          • PERITONEAL FLUID
            • the fluid made in the abdominal cavity which lubricates the tissue wall of the abdominal wall and the pelvic cavity. This allows the friction free movement of the organs, preventing adhesions forming between the organs and the peritoneum.
        • PARIETAL
          • is the outer layer of the peritoneum which lines the abdominal wall.
        • VISCERAL
          • the inner layer of the peritoneum; folded on itself to keep the organs separate; suspending the organs within the abdominal cavity.
        • SEROUS MEMBRANES= LINES THE INSIDES
        • MUCOUS MEMBRANES= LINES OUTSIDE (SECRETES)
