Deforestation
  1. Social Consequences
    1. Socialization

      Annotations:

      • You know when you walk outside and there is someone smoking, you hold your breath half because you don't want to second hand smoke and half because it smells nasty?  well picture doing that every time you go outside. Our world will be so polluted that there will be a time where that will happen!
      1. Society

        Annotations:

        • Deforestation affects society in a hell of a lot of ways.  According to National Geographic, 80% of Earth's species live in forests.  This affects society because some of the things we take for granted won't we there any more.  The nuts you come home and snack on, gone.  The mango that flavours your juice, gone.  Honey?  All these goods would become super expensive super fast.
      2. Scientific Consequences
        1. Research

          Annotations:

          • In a scientific aspect, we have screwed ourselves over.  For example, dolphins are an extremely intelligent creatures and yet we kill them blindly.  Just like all of the species in the rainforest!  We could have learned something crucially important to scientific research but instead we destroy their habitats along with everything they have to offer.
        2. Legal and Ethical Consequences
          1. Ethical

            Annotations:

            • Well, everyone has a different ethical standpoint, but there is a general ethic that people agree on: Killing.  Don't kill, it's that simple.  Yet we are too greedy to consider this and disregard our ethic when we can make money off it.
            1. Laws

              Annotations:

              • Different countries have set different laws in place to preserve what they have left.  Australia has put a ban on all illegally sourced wood products, the E.U. also does the same, while America puts a ban on any illegal wildlife trafficking.
            2. Economic Consequences
              1. Employment

                Annotations:

                • Although forestry does create quite a large amount of jobs, is it equivalent to the damage it is dealing?  To the fishing industry eutrophication is deadly, caused by pollution!  Fishing is a HUGE industry (one of many) that gets by deforestation constantly
                1. Tourism

                  Annotations:

                  • Have you ever heard of the wild jungle or the great outdoors and wanted to check it out?  Well the rainforest would be a great example - and a great income source, but unfortunately ignorance around the world continue to cut down trees instead of utilizing them.
                  1. Impacts

                    Annotations:

                    • These are the impacts deforestation has on economic stability!  In my opinion, I think the agricultural half takes a bigger hit than the city.
                    1. Agricultural

                      Annotations:

                      • Remember when I told you about how trees absorb carbon and produce oxygen for us?  Well, where do you think that carbon goes?  It transfers into the tree, roots and SOIL.  This is key because with trees, the soil keeps some of it's nutrients.  So when you plant your vegetables or you plant you fruits, you are receiving a better product as the plants have more nutrients from the soil which eventually got it's nutrients from the trees.
                      1. City

                        Annotations:

                        • Deforestation makes the city flourish.  Lumber for selling, lumber for building, lumber for crafting, you can't go wrong!  If you are in the city, you don't really see the effects of it as much as the agricultural half
                    2. Personal Consequences
                      1. The future generations

                        Annotations:

                        • The future of my bloodline may never know what a tree looks like, or they may have to wear a gas mask everywhere they go!
                        1. Me

                          Annotations:

                          • I personally don't enjoy pollution, or the fact that we are killing living things.  But above all of that, the thing that bugs me the most is that some of these countries don't even try to stop it! If you know what you are doing is wrong, why continue?
                        2. Environmental Consequences
                          1. Impacts

                            Annotations:

                            • I've balanced the negatives and the posi - oh wait, there are none.  Short and long term, the environment does not have 1 good thing to come out of deforestation.  So why do we do it? Our greed.   If we cut down trees, in a couple of years we will kill of lots of species and ecosystems not to mention our soil... But in the long term we may end up damaging our air quality.
