1. The story

   • Day 1: God separated the light from the dark
   • Day 2: God separated the sea from the sky
   • Day 3: God separated the sky from the land and planted trees and flowers
   • Day 4: God separated day from night
   • Day 5: God created the fishes in the sea and the birds in the sky
   • Day 6: God created animals and humans
   • Day 7: God rested on the Sabbath day

2. Interpretations

   • Some Christians interpret the bible literally. They believe that the world was created in 7 days and that God created humans as they are now.
   • Some Christians interpret the Bible symbolically. They believe that God created the world and humanity - God may have created the world through the Big Bang and humans though evolution

3. Importance and influence

   • Many Christians believe that God gave them domination over the earth
   • Many Christians believe that God charged them with stewardship

4. Role of the Word and the Spirit

   • The spirit of God was present at creation. (Genesis 1:1-3)
   • The word (Jesus) was present at creation, was God, and that everything was created through him. (John 1:1-3)
     • “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”
