1. Magnetic Storage

   • Advantages: Huge storage capacity ( measured in terabytes) TB, Cheapest out of the three storage technologies in terms of storage per gigabyte, Data can be stored for a long period of time
   • Disadvantages: Can corrupt data, not as portable eg physically larger, they have mechanical moving parts so easier to break.

2. optical storage

   • Advantages: media is very portable compared to hard disk, inexpensive and immune to magenetic fields.
   • Disadvantages: Not as robust( can be scratched easily), slower than other types of media,

3. Solid State

   • Advantages: Very portable compared to USB, very robust and faster to access
   • Disadvantages: SSD are expensive and they have a limited number of erase/write cycles
