Random Access Memory
The RAM stores things like applications and The Graphical User Interface
It is a fast temporary storage
The data on a RAM is deleted when the computer is turned off.
You can change the data by doing what you normally do on a computer. For example, when you open and close a application.
Read Only Memory
This is a storage unit which can store much more data and even when the computer is turned off.
ROM contains the start up process to turn on the computer and to turn it off. It also turns all of your hardware on.
The ROM can not be changed unless you have the right equipment. If you do have the right equipment you can change the ROM's data.
A volatile memory is a memory that needs power to work
A non-volatile memory is memory that can store data without power it can remember data when the computer is turned off
