    1. the purpose is to quickly store and access data for its memory
      1. volatile means that when the power is turned off it lose it's memory so it is ram
        1. nonvolatile is when the power is turn off and it does not lose it's memory contents
          1. rom means read only memory
            1. the purpose of rom is that memory is stored even if the power is switched off
              1. ram stores information currently used
                1. rom mean that you can not change the stored data
                  1. you can change what is on rom
