2. Isabella possibly uses Catherine to get to James, their friendship is not so stable

3. Isabella protests she doesn't seek men's attention, yet looks back to be sure they are watching, or walks faster to overtake them

4. Isabella accepts the invitation to dance with Frederick Tilney after saying she will not

   • She denies interest in him while encouraging him

5. Catherine trusts Isabella's words, even when they are contradictory to the actions she witnessed

6. John Thorpe

   • Exaggerates himself to appear more impressive
     • How he aquired his curricle
     • The fact that he can hold his liquor
   • Lies to the Tilneys
     • Claims Catherine is more wealthy than she is
     • Claims Catherine has plans and cannot go on a walk with them
