1. SELECTION

   • When a decision has to be made in a section of code
     • IF
       • ELSE

2. ITERATION

   • When a section of code is repeated
     • like a do and for loop

3. REPETITION

   • repeat, loops
     • loops repeat sections of code until a certain condition is met
     • ADVANTAGES OF LOOPS
       • shorter programs
         • less chance of errors
         • quicker to make changes
     • DISADVANTAGES OF LOOPS
       • initial code can be more complex
       • if coded incorrectly, program could get stuck in the loop
