Creating Software

  1. IDE

    • Translators
      • An interpreter is used to translate the high level code into low level code
    • Editor
      • Auto indents code
      • Colour codes command words
      • Some also autocomplete code as you type it
    • Error Diagnostics
      • Used to debug your code
      • it locates errors and suggests ways in which to fix it
    • Run time environment
      • Allows you to run your code quickly so that you can test to see that it works
      • This is used during iterative testing (Testing when you are developing the program)
  2. Programs

    • PyCharm uses
      • Error Diagnostics
      • Translator (interpreter)
      • Editor
      • Run Time Environment
    • PyScripter uses
      • Error Diagnostics
      • Run Time Environment
      • Translator (interpreter)
      • Editor
    • Python
      • Used in the 3rd Generation
        • 3rd Generation is easier to use for a programmer
  3. Translators

    • Compiler
      • translates all of the original program code (source code) into an executable program (machine code).
    • Assembler
      • This is not used to translate High Level Languages
      • This is used to translate Assembly Code
      • This translator is used with the 2nd Generation
    • Interpreter
      • An Interpreter reads each line of a computer program and then converts or executes it directly without translating the entire program into machine code
    • Machine code
      • is a collection of binary digits (1s and 0s) that a computer can understand.
    • Assembly Language
      • uses a very simple command rather than a collection of numbers (the machine code) allowing humans to more easily read the code compared to the difficulty of looking at binary (1s and 0s).
