Lighting

  1. Cinematography- lighting in movement

  2. 3 Point Lighting

    • Most commonly used
      • Key, Fill and Back Lighting
  3. Key Light- the main illumination source, this tends o blend the subject into the backgroung and leave shadows of the side of the face not lit up

  4. Fill Lighting- used to fill in the areas of darkness or shadow caused by the key light

    • Less Intensity and at eye level
  5. Back Lights

    • Used above and behind the subject
      • If alone will create a silhouette
        • Makes the subject standout from its background
  6. Key and Fill

    • The shadows on the face emphasising the three dimensionality of the face.
  7. Key and Back

    • Key and back give a slightly harsh effect. Strong shadows are cast on the other side of the face
  8. Key, fill and back light the subject and separate it from the background.

  9. High-key lighting

    • even ratio of key and fill light will result in an image of almost uniform brightness.
