Lesson 1: Python

  1. Python is a simple coding language

  2. Program on Python IDLE

    • De-bugging is taking the bug out of the code
    • You need to be consistent with lowercase or capitals
      • not m=25 n=25 T=m-N
      • e.g m=25 n=25 t=m-n
  3. Development environment

    • Called IDLE
      • Intergrated Development Environment
      • 2 Modes
        • Interactive mode where you can see your results as soon as you do it. Generally used for small amounts of code.
        • In script mode you write your code in a text file then save it with a . py extension which stands for "Python". Generally used for larger amounts of code.
  4. Used around the world.

    • Used by NASA, Google, etc.
      • Can be used for AI, data collection etc.
  5. You need to sequence instructions

    • Once you put the steps in order, it is an algorithm
      • The steps we give to the computer is the algorithm. They need to be simple steps.
      • If it's in the right order, it's an algorithm
      • The action of breaking apart the problem into smaller steps which leads you to find an algorithim is called decompostion; the simplest precise steps
