  1. Pt seated facing the film with head tipped back so aga tragal line at 45° to film. Tubehead positioned so beam centred through occiput.
Submento-vortex
1. Investigate
  1. Base of skull & sphenoidal sinus from below
  2. Fractures of zygomatic arches
Oblique lateral
1. Investigate
  1. Not commonly used- now use DPT
  2. When not able to take intra-oral e.g. gag reflex
PA mandible
1. AKA
  1. Posterior anterior mandible
2. Investigate
  1. Fracture on mandible
    1. At
      1. Body
      2. Angle
      3. Ramus
  2. Lesions of bone

  1. Same patient position as PA skull
  2. Tubehead with central beam at through cervical spine at level of rami of mandible.

1. Beam is set further forwards compared to true lateral skull
  1. Standardised and reproducible compared to lateral skull
