DIVISION OF LABOUR
  1. some cells produce hormones
    1. hormones are chemical messenger molecules
      1. they help to coordinate the activities of the whole organism
        1. this includes; auxins in plant, insulin and growth in animals
      2. plant hormones are usually refered to as plant growth regulators or plant growth substances
      3. the instructions to make the hormone are located in the DNA in the nucleus
        1. the nucleus copies the instructions in the DNA into mRNA
          1. the mRNA then leaves the nucleus through a nuclear pore and attaches to a ribosome(which is attached to the rough endoplasmic reticulum)
            1. the ribosome reads the instructions and uses the code to assemble the hormone(protein)
              1. the assembled protein inside the rough endoplasmic reticulum is pinched off in a vesicle and transported to the golgi apparatus
                1. the golgi apparatus modifies and packages the protein into vesicles so that it is then ready for release
                  1. it is then moved to the cell surface membrane where it is secreted outside
