Why was the 1905 revolution a failure?
  1. Social parties
    1. All of the parties had one thing in common - to overthrow the Tsar. However all of the social parties were divided.
      1. Most of them disagreed with each other and this weakened the strength between the parties
    2. Different agendas
      1. Each party had different agendas, for example the Kadets and the octoberists did wanted to keep the Tsar government. They wanted reform but in a non-violent way and a respectable way to the Tsar.
        1. Peasents just wanted land and the division of the states.
          1. Lenin promised peace and land to the people
        2. October manifesto
          1. The october manifesto was between Witte and Nicolas II. Nicolas was losing support and gaining a lot of opposition. In which Nicolas's only demand was to make reforms.
            1. The october manifesto consisted of Civil Liberities which is freedom of speech
              1. He created a Duma, this was a legislation body
              2. The manifesto satifised much of the liberals. However the social democratic parties who followed marxist ideas e.g the bolsheviks still wanted more reform. The october manifesto wasn't enough
              3. The army
                1. The population and the parties were so divided, that the 1905 was bound to fail.
                  1. The army was on the Tsar's side which meant that if the nation wanted to go on strike, then the Tsar could suppress this idea.
