Nazism
  1. Racial Policies
    1. The goal with the new policies was to create a radical reshaping of Germany's already existing society.
      1. With a warped idea of racial 'purity' and creating an 'Aryan national community".
      2. Nazis killed anyone who did not fit into their perfect society.
        1. People they considered weak or wayward ('congenitally sick', homosexuals), and people belonging to 'foreign races'.
          1. Jews being considered the the main enemy, were no longer to be civil servants or to practice law. They also could not occupy any sort of public position.
      3. Lebensraum
        1. Translated into "living space", Lebensraum held the desire to for the Nazis to expand into other countries to provide living space for the growing German race.
          1. After successfully taking over surroundings of France, Alsace, an Lorraine, the goverment began to introduce its racial reconstracting.
            1. The Nazis making it mostly difficult for Jews, the were stripped of their belongings, purpose and identity
          2. Undoing the Terms of Versailles
            1. Claiming he would break the "unjust" terms of the treaty, Hitler wanted to unite all of Germans into one nation and increase their military.
              1. Slowing bending the rules during the 20's, Hitler quoted that he had a relatively weak army though the truth was the opposite. As most of Europe saw Germany holding onto the terms of the treaty.
              2. Autaurky
                1. An economic policy to have a closed economy and not allow any external trade.
                  1. Hitler's ambition to make Germany self sufficient was halted due to that it was dependent on Lebensraum. Thus Hitler never achieved autaurky because of the dependency for oil and other raw materials since it was prohibited by their foreign policy.
                2. Propaganda
                  1. Posters such as this one helped promote the aniexty of Jewish people being a threat and communists. This also re enforced the stereotypes of Jews without letting people actually question the reality of them.
                    1. With a very minimalist design, Hitler's election poster was considered very powerful since its simplicity appealed to the large population. Also given that the mass media had just been recognizing him as a potent political figure.
                      1. Leni Riefenstahl
                        1. Director, editor, producer, and co writer of the infamous propaganda film, Triumph of Will. The film showcases the German Chancellor and Hitler at the 1934 Nuremberg Rally.
                        2. The propaganda used had a significant appeal to the larger masses of German people and the outside world. Getting more and more people following the Nazi regime by using hope for a better future, and terror to intimidate those who did not comply.
                        3. Aggressive Nationalism
                          1. Used 'Aryan Race' as way to express the nationalism that the Germans felt as well as their significance over other countries.
                            1. Also used propaganda to convince that other countries were lesser and deserved to be killed off.
                          2. Anti-Communism
                            1. With the fear of communism taking over and the Jews being the Nazis 'main' enemy, they used propaganda and violence against them.
                              1. Propaganda was used to convince people that Jews and communists were working together to overtake Germany.
