Renaissance

Annotations:

• Renaissance period is probably the most important text in the mind map. It links to everything that happened in the mind map. It also influenced the world today. During the Renaissance period people began to have independent thoughts and different ideas. It created a lot of amazing inventions and human literatures during that period. 

1. Independent thinking

   Annotations:

   • Independent thinking created different thoughts for people. They started wondering more about the world and are their believes true.
   1. Science

      Annotations:

      • Independence thinking influenced science when people like Nicolaus Corpenicus starts wondering about question of science. For example, is Earth really the middle of the whole universe. Other parts about the science isn't improving old ideas, it is discovering new ideas what a famous scientist Vesalius did.
      1. Copernicus

         Annotations:

         • Nicolaus Corpanicus is a Polish Scientist who started wondering if the Earth is really the center of the universe. Even though he started this thought but he never really publish it to the public.He influenced science later on because this thought affect a really important person ---Galileo.
         1. Galileo

            Annotations:

            • Galileo reads about Copernicus's theory of the sun being in the center of the universe. He has the same thought as him. He publicly publish his idea and fought against the Catholic church. This is a type of independent thinking.
            1. Power of the Church and Kings Challenged

               Annotations:

               • When Galileo succeed the theory that the sun is the center of the universe, the power of the church and kings are challenged. Before people thinks that everything the church and the kings says are right without a doubt. Now they don't trust them that much since they just got proven wrong.
      2. Vesalius

         Annotations:

         • Another person that grew from science is Vesalius. Vesalius thinks independently in order to create different medicine that save people. People didn't tell him any information about medicine he had to figure it out himself.

            Annotations:

            • Medicine solved a lot of problems during the Renaissance period since people can heal from a lot more illness. Vesalius created a lot of medicine that is why it is placed under it. 
      3. Leonardo Da Vinci

         Annotations:

         • Leonardo Da Vinci is a person who has great influence to topics like science, art and architecture. He did famous paintings such as the last supper, mona lisa. He studied about baby birth and flight. He wanted to fly and built his own plane. Even though he never succeed he still influenced our world in several different ways. 
         1. Architecture

            Annotations:

            • Architecture is influenced by Leonardo Da Vinci. He designed cathedrals and sketch a lot of different works.  One of the greatest architecture influenced by him is the Milan Cathedral. 
            1. Brunelleschi

               Annotations:

               • Brunelleschi is one of the first modern engineers during the renaissance period. He influenced the architecture today and he is one of the first one to analyse perspective. 
2. Humanism

   Annotations:

   • Humanism is one of the most important believe that influenced the Renaissance period. It is a believe that believed every human should have the ability to believe in what they want. They can have independent thoughts and personal opinions.
   1. Change

      Annotations:

      • Change caused everything. It gives people new ideas and it is a big reason why the renaissance period improved people's thought so much.
      1. Florence, Italy

         Annotations:

         • The change started in Italian city states. They spread ideas around each other and soon the whole Europe. 
         1. Medici Family

            Annotations:

            • One rich powerful family that has influenced to the change is the Medici Family. They are Patrons of art and they hired a important sculpture Michelangelo to work for them.
            1. Michelangelo

               Annotations:

               • Michelangelo is one of the greatest sculptors in the renaissance period. He is employed by the Medici Family to make sculptors for them. 
               1. Art

                  Annotations:

                  • Art is really important in the Renaissance period. Everything can be learned using art. For example, the art in Renaissance period are different to old times such as classical period and medieval period. Since during the Renaissance period people are believed to have own thoughts and think independently. They draw what they want. Now not all works are based on religious themes and each have different unique styles. 
                  2. Raphael

                     Annotations:

                     • Raphael is a really important person during the Renaissance period since his art work uses different perspective and using it in his art. He is a Italian artist that is why he is placed under art.
                  3. Patrons

                     Annotations:

                     • Patrons are really important in the Renaissance period. It kept the individual thinking of art alive. Since people start thinking different, a lot of new ideas are created. Some people created really special and unique ones so the patrons played an important role of supporting them. They can continue creating the ideas and develop it better and better.
                  4. Non Religious Themes

                     Annotations:

                     • Back in the medieval times, all the art are based on religious themes. But when it comes to the Renaissance period people's thought changed. They started doing art works with non religious themes. 
            2. Machiavelli

               Annotations:

               • During the period when the Medici Family are  banished, a person named Marchiavelii wrote a book called the Prince about politics. It talks about what politics really is.
               1. The Prince

                  Annotations:

                  • The Prince is the book that Machiavelli wrote when the Medici family are banished. It is a important book and achievement during the Renaissance Period.
                  1. Politics

                     Annotations:

                     • Politics really changed during the Renaissance period. People starting have new ideas to govern the citizens and the citizens have their own ideas to the governor. Politics changed during the Renaissance period since people can use the old way anymore.
      2. Gutenburg

         Annotations:

         • deliverChanging the old ways, Gutenburg invented a new way of printing. Instead of copying hand to hand. A 300 page book takes about 2 month to be copied by hand to hand, it only takes 1 day to copy it by the printer Gutenburg invented. His invention also caused great affect to the Christian religion because people can print bible fast and deliver it to more people. Than more people can read about the bible and learn the religion faster. More bible are produced

            • Printing technology makes copying books and work faster than before. 
            1. Famous Printed Bible

               Annotations:

               • The bible is placed after printing and Gutenburg because without Gutenburg people over europe can't read about it. Large amounts of bible are produced after Gutenburg's printing invention.
      3. sculpture

         Annotations:

         • Sculpture are a type of art but carving it with wood or other materials and making it into a 3D shape. In renaissance sculpture played a important role of change since it also shows how renaissance thinking affects art.
         1. Ancient Greeks and Roman

            Annotations:

            • The Greeks and Roman started sculpture first, they made the ones with no color. It is a big influence to the Renaissance sculpture maker because they copied a lot of the Ancient Greeks and Roman sculpture making ways.  
            1. Donatello

               Annotations:

               • Donatello is a sculpture maker and his work got influenced by the Ancient Greeks and Roman a lot. He is famous for making sculpture bigger than its real size and he is one of the greatest sculptors during the Renaissance period.
3. Rebirth Classical Ideas

   Annotations:

   • The rebirth of classical ideas is what renaissance all about. The ideas in Renaissance is basically developed from the old classical period ideas. People just changed the ideas from the classical period.

      • Literature is an important feature in the Renaissance period because it reveals people's ideas and thoughts through writings. People in Renaissance period started thinking independently and using literature they can express their ideas. 
      1. Shakespeare

         Annotations:

         • Shakespeare is a playwriter and a poet in the Renaissance period. His unique opinion makes his product very welcomed from people around Europe and the world. 
      2. Petrarch

         Annotations:

         • Petrach is one of the person who started the Renaissance period. He is a poet and a writer that is why he is placed beside literature. He rediscover Cicero's letters.
