  • "Great Rebirth" on the classical art and learnings. 
  1. Ancient Greece and Roman

    Annotations:

    •    The Ancient Roman and Greece is the foundation of the Renaissance and without it, the Renaissance wouldn't be even possible.      The connection between two is that the Ancient Roman and Greece has the culture of "Classical Period" The classical period is basics of Renaissance art but with some improvements.
    1. Art

      Annotations:

      •    The art was important because Renaissance is the rebirth of the art and learnings that was improve upon classical period arts.     This was connected to Ancient Greece and Roman because the arts are improvements on classical period, which is the culture of Ancient Greece and Roman.
      1. Perspectives

        Annotations:

        • This marked one of the portraits of Renaissance paintings. The paintings often have a full background which showed perspectives and added depth. 
        1. Non Religious Scene

          Annotations:

          • The paintings and drawing of Renaissance period also sometimes showed no religious scenes. 
          1. Donatello

            Annotations:

            • Donatello is very important because of his sculptures. His works expressed personality and mood. For example, his statue of David.
            1. Michelangelo

              Annotations:

              • Michelangelo is one of the greatest artist and he is known for painting and sculpture. Famous work includes David and Pieta which were still famous after hundreds of years.
              1. Raphael

                Annotations:

                • Raphael was an artist and an architect. He was known for his art piece, Madonna. His artpiece was really famous and still was until the day of now.

                  Annotations:

                  • Brunelleschi was important mainly because he was the one who finished Duomo, a famous catholic church's roof. (The round thingy) This is one of the most important architectural example back in the Renaissance period because it is Renaissance design. It showed a great example of how it combine some classical period ideas.

                • The Renaissance is the period of time were great interest of art and learnings in Classical Period because popular again. 
                1. Humanism

                  Annotations:

                  • The Renaissance also promotes the idea of humanism. Humanism promote that every individual should have rights and their own thinking.  This is important because it is one of the factor that the arts and learnings grew so huge over the whole Europe. 
                  1. Independent Thinking

                    Annotations:

                    • Humanism is basically independent thinking or promotes the idea of self studying.  This is important because without the interest of studying, then the humanism idea won't even spread.
                    1. Printing

                      Annotations:

                      • They are related because printing is one of the reason individual study became really popular. Books and paper were expensive back in the days but however, after the printing technique, everyone can own books which interest people to study. 
                      1. Gutenburg

                        Annotations:

                        • He is the guy who invented the printer. This was important because it promotes the Humanism which especially on the studies. Books and paper were a lot cheaper and it helped the make everyone want to learn and read. It also helped them to think individually. 
                        1. Famoud printed bible

                          Annotations:

                          • After Gutenburg invent the printer, the most frequently printed book was the bible. More people understands the bible and the whole church religion. It helps the catholic church to gain power.
                      2. Petrarch

                        Annotations:

                        • Petrarch is the first humanist and he loves to study the old books.  Eventually, he created a book that has a collection of ancient Latin and Greek literature. He was important since the the literature piece was still studied even till now. 
                        1. Power of church and King challenged

                          Annotations:

                          • Renaissance promotes humanism and individual thinkings, which opposite, the churches and kings believe that people should do what they were suppose to do. The Renaissance however, promote that people should be curious and question things. Therefore, two beliefs crashed together. 
                        2. Writing

                          Annotations:

                          • Writing is a part of Renaissance as the literature of classical pieces were recreated.

                              Annotations:

                              • shakespeare is a talented play writer and he wrote a lot plays that are still famous till this day. His works inspired the later writers and leave a lasting mark on English literature. 
                            2. Change

                              Annotations:

                              • Renaissance marked the change of thinkings. For example, the rebirth of classical literature indicates the interest of studying, and even the promotes the humanism which changes people's thinking.
                              1. Science

                                Annotations:

                                • Just like the art and literature, science also improved a lot during the Renaissance period.
                                1. Copernicus

                                  Annotations:

                                  • Copernicus proposed that the Earth orbits around the sun, which is the heliocentric model. He eventually went against the Catholic church since they believe god made everything for human, therefore Earth should be in the middle. I put him here mainly because he belong to the science category.
                                  1. Galileo

                                    Annotations:

                                    • He discovered a new research that there are four moons that revolve around the Jupiter. He dedicated his life researching and proposing which eventually when against the Catholic churches just like Copernicus. 
                                    1. Vesalius

                                      Annotations:

                                      • He was a Belgium scientist who published the early stage of medical textbook. He was passionate in studying human anatomies and the human structures. I put him here because he's a scientist.
                                      1. Medicine

                                        Annotations:

                                        • Vesalius wrote a book mainly on medicine and anatomy which eventually became the first medical textbook. 
                                    2. Florence, Italy

                                      Annotations:

                                      • Florence is the main city that the Renaissance started. This is important because without the Florence starting Renaissance, it wouldn't have carried out to the whole Europe and became one of the greatest period of time. 
                                      1. Politics

                                        Annotations:

                                        • The politics in Florence helped the Renaissance to develop and at the same time, kept the order of Florence. 
                                        1. Medici Family

                                          Annotations:

                                          • Medici family is the Florence's central governors. They remain their power in several way including building a lot palaces. They have great wealth, and are one of the reason that the Renaissance Art are so popular. 
                                          1. Machiavelli

                                            Annotations:

                                            • He was a writer who wrote The Prince which was talking about his experience of watching the struggles of powerful family. The book eventually became really popular and was still study to now. 
                                        2. Patrons

                                          Annotations:

                                          • Patrons are wealthy people who treated art as one social status. They helped the art to become really popular and eventually also help the Renaissance to spread. 
                                        3. Leonardo Da Vinci

                                          Annotations:

                                          • He was an artist, scientist, engineer, and inventor. He drew the famous painting, Mona Lisa, and he also create invention ideas that are far ahead of their time. Leonardo Da Vinci is the perfect example of renaissance since his multiple interest and studies.
