        2. Power (Watts, W) = Current (Amperes, A) x Potential difference (Volts, V)
          1. P = I x V
          2. This heating effect occurs in all types of resistance not just resistors
            1. therefore the cables themselves and all electrical devices generate heat depending on their resistance
