Binary images 2.0

  1. lossy image types

    • Png
    • jpeg
    • gif
  2. Other image types

    • Bmp
    • tiff
    • raw
  3. Key words

    • Colour depth
      • Resolution
        • metadata
          • image size
      • Pixels per inch
        • file size
          • File type
            • Pixels
              • lossless compression
                • Lossy compression
                  • Dots per inch
  4. Image resolution

    • The image resolution is measured in DPI (Dpi stands for dots per inch) If the image has a higher DPI, then there will be more pixels needed.
  5. colour depth

    • The colour depth is the amount of binary that gets stored for each image.
  6. Image size

    • The image size also knows as the dimentions is Measured in pixels (width x height)
  7. Metadata

    • The metadata stores information about the image so that the computer is able to process the the binary data.
  8. Vector images

    • Vector images store a set of instructions about how to draw each shape in the image. These types of images are good for simple geometric shapes.
  9. Compressing images

    • You can compress an image to make the file size smaller. you can do this by taking a part of the image that is all the same colour and reduce the colour depth in each pixel.
  10. Bitmap images

    • A bitmap image is a collection of pixels. When you make a bitmap image larger it just enlarges each pixel. If you enlarge this image to much then the image will Pixelate.
