Resource summary
Refraction and Diffraction
Diffraction- waves spreading out
All waves spread out at the edges when they pass through a gap or pass an obstacle
The narrower the gap the more the waves spread out.
The wider the gap the less the waves spread out.
Radio waves and hills:
The waves are so large that when they come into contact with hills, they may not defract fully which is why signal levels can be so poor
