        1. First New Deal Creates: FDIC, AAA and NIRA
        2. The Federal Securities Act, passed in May 1933, required corporations to provide complete information on all stock offerings and made them liable for any misrepresentations.
          1. New Deal two series of bills passed by Congress during FDR's time in office, intended to combat the effects of the Great Depression. The first, also known as the 100 days legislation, included the Emergency Banking Relief Act, Civilian Conservation Corps, Federal Emergency Relief Administration, Agricultural Adjustment Administration, Tennessee Valley Authority, National Industry Recovery Act, and the Public Works Administration. The second took place from 1935-1938 and it included the Emergency Relief Appropriations Act, Social Security Act, National Labor Relations Act, Resettlement Administration, National Housing Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
            1. 2nd New Deal - Although the economy had improved during FDR's first term (1932-1936), the gains were not as great as expected - Unemployment remained high and production still lagged

Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA) 1933; was set up to provide immediate relief to the nation's farmers; established a new federal role in agricultural planning and price setting; established parity prices for basic farm commodities; incorporated the principle of subsidy whereby farmers received benefit payments in return for reducing acreage or otherwise cutting production where surplus existed; raised total farm income; increased prices of wheat, cotton, and corn.

Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) established in March as an unemployment relief effort; provided work for jobless young men in protecting and conserving the nation's natural resources; reforested seventeen million acres of land; planted two hundred million trees; men got room and board free and received $30 a month, up to $25 of which had to be sent home to those that depended on them; employed more than 2.5 million men over the time it was running
                1. National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA) closest attempt yet at systemic plan for economic recovery- 2 components NRA and PWA-self governed businesses given codes through various representatives and increase consumer spending to create jobs and stimulate economy
                2. The New Deal Comes Under Attack
                  1. The Supreme Curt Reacts-By the mid-1930s, the Supreme Court struck down the NIRA as unconstitutional (citing too much government control over industry). Violated separation of power between the government and private business. The Court also struck down the AAA on the grounds that agriculture was a local matter not a federal matter.
