3. Biaxial

   • Condyloid
     • knuckle shaped condyles allow uniaxial movement with some rotation
   • ellipsoid
     • egg shaped convex articulation allows two planes to move at right angles
     • radiocarpal joint
   • saddle
     • greater scope for rotation
     • one of the bones shaped like a saddle and sits on the other

4. multiaxial
