  1. FAMILY BONDS CAN BE HEALTHY AN SUPPORTIVE
    1. Frankensteins parents give him "inexhstustabile stores of affection"
      1. Support - Alphonse sends Henry to be with Frankenstein in Inglsodadt and resucues him from jail
        1. Frankenstein is taught "patience" and "self control" by his parents. Does not live like this. Ignores his fathers request to not get revenge. Suggests parents example IS imprortant, but often need reinforicing.
          1. The DeLacey family are a good model of family love. Monster thinks they're "superior beings" because of their behaviour.
          2. WOMEN HAVE MOTHERLY VALUES
            1. Caroline Frankenstein prioritises family - sacrfices for her sick father, and thinks about her family even when she is dying, and looks after Elizabeth even though it is dangerous.
              1. Also extends her family - adopts Elizabeth & takes in Justine
              2. Elizabeth treats her younger cousins like her children. Talks about William like he was hers "I have murdered my darling child" and takes Carolines place "you must supply my place to my younger children"
                1. WOMEN ARE CRUCIAL TO HOLDING THE FAMILY TOGETHER.
                2. BAD EXAMPLES OF FAMILY
                  1. Justine's mother "could not endure her". Elizabeth says it is "strange pervesity" as it is unnatural to not love a child
                    1. DeLacey's reject the monster although they seem ideal. This makes the monsters lack of family more tragic
                      1. Frankenstein creates the monster but neglects him. "I am thy creature, I ought to be thy Adam,"
