Computational thinking skils

  1. Pattern Generalisation and abstraction

    • When looking at problems you could see patterns and its important to notice these patterns and see if there is a way of fixing them. You may also find that patterns show in general relationships and its important to notice these and see if you can find a way to solve these
  2. Pattern recognition

    • It involves the recognition of patterns, such as finding similarities or patterns among small decomposed problems. These can help us solve more complex problems more efficiently.
    • 5 Steps of pattern recognition
  3. Representation of problem elements

    • We use things such as lists, flow charts, tree diagrams to try and represent the situation and look for the problem
  4. Decomposition

    • Advantages
      • Improves efficiency of solving tasks. It allows tasks to be broken down into multiple smaller problems making it easy to solve with a group of people.
    • Disadvantage
      • The disadvantages with using decomposition is that you break it down into smaller problems for more people to solve but you need more people to solve the problem, even though it is more efficient you still need more people to solve it, which could be a problem.
    • Decomposition is the process of breaking down complex problems into smaller. By doing this it allows you to focus on one thing/problem at a time.
