METRIC SYSTEM
In the late 1700’s, the French Academy of Sciences developed the Metric System.
The system is now the International System of Units (SI).
Si units are expressed in multiples of 10.
BASIC UNITS
The basic units are: meter, liter and gram.
Meter is the basic unit of length.
Liter is the basic unit of volume.
Gram is the basic unit of mass.
STEPS
Smaller unit to a bigger unit you divide.
Bigger unit to a smaller unit you multiply.

CONVERSIONS
1000 m = 1 km
1000 km = 1000000 m
1000 cm = 10 m
1000 m = 100000 cm
1000 mm = 1 m
1000 g = 1 kg
1000 kg = 1000000 g
1000 cg = 10 g
1000 g = 100000 cg
1000 mg = 1 g
1000 l = 1 kl
1000 kl = 1000000 l
1000 cl = 10 l
1000 l = 100000 cl
1000 ml = 1 l
