The slope of a velocity-time graph represents the acceleration of the object. The steeper the slope of the graph the greater the acceleration. The area underneath the line in the velocity-time graph represents the total distance travelled.

ACCELERATION = FINAL VELOCITY (m/s) - INITIAL VELOCITY (m/s)         (m/s2)            --------------------------------------------------------------------------                                                             TIME (s)

a = v - u     --------        t

Acceleration: The rate at which the velocity of an object changes.

Velocity: The velocity of a moving object describes it's speed in a given direction.
