Water is the key to nearly everything.
Water is used in most forms of chemistry.
Di-Hydrogen Monoxide:
Solutions consists of a solvent and solute.
Water is polar which makes it the best solvent in every solution
Oxygen atoms are a little more electronegative than the hydrogen atoms - this is what makes water polar. It gives the molecule a slightly negative side and a slightly positive side.
When one mixes a polar liquid with a polar solid.
The negative and positive molecules of each side attract which causes the solid to dissolve.
Aqueous Solutions:
Water does not dissolve non-ionic substances.
Water can decrease the attractions between ions of different charges. (dielectric property)
Electrolytes - loosened electricity.
