The sanctity of life
All life is sacred and is a gift from god in which everyone is equal and life should be treated with respect as a form of worship to god.
we should honor god through our bodies and how we live.
Catholics
life begins at conception and to harm an embryo or foetus is murder
Church of England
life begins at birth or after conception so embryos destroyed early on are not alive
Before i formed you in the womb i knew you
you knit me together in my mothers womb
you yourself are gods temple
Abortion
Roman Catholics
Pro life, deliberate abortion is never acceptable however if it threatens the mothers life then it would be reasonable.
goes against the commandment of 'do not murder'
life is sacred
we shouldn't interfere with gods creation 'you knit me together in my mothers womb'
adoption is a better option
Church Of England
Pro Choice
abortion is acceptable under certain circumstances e.g risk of disability a result of rape, poverty.
Sanctity of life suggests that the mothers life is more sacred.
