- 1Statistical TestsUsed in psychology to determine whether a significant difference or correlation exists
And consequently whether the null hypothesis should be rejected or retained - 23 Factors used when considering Statistical Testing1. Whether the researcher is looking for a difference or a correlation
2. In the case of difference, what experimental design is being used.
3. The level of measurement - 3Difference or CorrelationRelates to the aim or purpose of the investigation.
This distinction should be obvious from the hypothesis - 4Experimental DesignThere are 3 types of experimental design: independent groups, repeated measures and matched pairs.
Independent groups = Unrelated
Repeated Measures & Matched Pairs = Related - 5Levels of MeasurementQuantitative data can be classified into types of levels of measurement.
- 6Nominal DataSometimes referred to categorical data.
Nominal data is discrete, in that one item can only appear in the categories - 7Ordinal DataOrdered in some way. The data does have equal intervals.
