Simple sentence	1 independent clause. Has subject + predicate.
example	The grass grows in the spring.
Compound sentence	2 independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction.
example	Grass grows in the spring, but it dies in the winter.
Complex sentence	1 dependent clause + 1 independent clause.
example	Because it is too cold, grass doesn't grow in the winter.
compound complex sentence	2 independent clauses + 1 dependent clause.
example	Because grass needs warm weather, it doesn't grow in the winter but it grows in the spring.
Sentence variation methods.	To make sentence engaging for your audience.
Start of a sentence.	Change up the start of your sentences. Use adverbs (quietly), Use -ing verbs (crying), Prepositional phrases. (In the morning.)
