- 1Secondary data: Data that already exists by other researchers/ organisations. E.G. Historical documents, diaries, books, statistics, photos, videos, documentaries, newspapers, media, graphs and posters.Advantages of Secondary data:
- Cheap and accessible.
- It is the only way for some research.
-Can show patterns and trends over time.
- Can prove if something is still true today. - 2Disadvantages of Secondary data: - Have to accpet the way in which concepts have been operationalised. - Data may contain inaccuracies or bias. - Personal documents are subjective.Secondary Data:
Thomas and Znanieck- A study of Polish migration to the USA based on first hand accounts from letters, diaries.
Weber- 'spirit of capitalism' used the work of Benjamin Franklin's two books.
