Questão Responda
What is a cell? A unit of life formed by cell division, and is incapable of own existence, which contains genetic information which is transferred to the next generation.
What are the similarities between a plant cell and an animal cell? Both cells have a cell membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus.
Describe the structure and function of a cell wall. Is made of cellulose therefore it is rigid/tough/flexible/elastic enough to protect the cell and give shape to it. It is fully permeable hence allows different molecules to diffuse. Rigidity of the cell wall allows cell to become turgid without being burst.
Describe the structure and function of a cell membrane. Is partially permeable so controls the movement of molecules in and out of the cell. Allows water to enter by osmosis. Allows salt ions or minerals by active transport. Forms boundary for cytoplasm Encloses the cell components.
Describe the structure and function of the nucleus. Contains DNA which carries the genetic information. Controls all the functions of the cell including cell division.
Describe the structure and function of chloroplasts. Contain chlorophyll which absorb light necessary for photosynthesis. Starch granules can be stored as food reserves.
Describe the structure and function of sap vacuole. Contains stored food materials and water. It is necessary for regulating the process of absorption of water by osmosis. It has a role in turgidity.
What are simple tissues? Same type of cell performing the same function. Eg: Muscles.
What are complex tissues? Groups of different cells. Eg: Blood, which has red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
What are tissues? Many cells with similar structure performing the same function.
What are organs? When several tissues combine together it forms an organ.
What is an organ system? Several organs joining together form an organ system.
