1. VISUAL

   • ABOUT
     • SPATIAL
       • Likes using charts, graphs, demonstrations and other visual materials
     • LINGUISTIC
       • Likes reading and writing tasks
   • TRAITS
     • Adding textual information with illustrations whenever possible.
     • Use graphs, charts, illustrations, or other visual aids.
     • Include outlines, concept maps, and handouts for reading and taking notes.
     • Leave white space in handouts for note-taking.

2. AURAL

   • ABOUT
     • Learns using auditory by hearing and talking
     • talking to a colleague or a tape recorder and hearing what was said
   • TRAITS
     • Begin new material with a brief explanation of what is coming
     • “tell them what they are going to learn, teach them, and tell them what they have learned.”
     • Have the learners verbalize the questions
     • Include auditory activities, such as brainstorming and buzz groups

3. READ / WRITE

   • ABOUT
     • This learners called by the name of “note takers”
     • Learners study better through note taken from lecture or from difficult reading materials
   • TRAITS
     • Likes to arrange lecture notes into sketch form, paraphrase lectures notes
     • Prefers printed word and text as a method to gain information
     • Likes to study multiple choice exam questions because by doing so they can learn better
     • These learners like list, glossary, textbooks, lecture notes, or circulation

4. KINESTHETIC

   • ABOUT
     • They do best while touching and moving called kinesthetic (movement) and tactile (touch)
     • Tends to lose concentration if there is little or no external stimulation or movemen
       • When listening to lectures they may want to take notes for the sake of moving their hands
   • TRAITS
     • Use colored markers to emphasize key points on flip charts or white boards
     • Guide learners through a visualization of complex tasks
     • Play music, when appropriate, during activities
     • Use activities that get the learners up and moving
