1. ACTIN FILAMENT

   • STAGES
     • 1.) Nucleation (rate determining step)
       • G actin
     • 2.) Elongation (Growth Phase)
       • Begins once oligomer formed (four actin come together)
     • 3.) Stable State (equilibrium)
       • f actin formed
   • Needs lots of ATP
     • ATP on actin faces - end of the filament
   • Growth of the filament only occurs on one side (+ side)

2. MICROTUBULES

   • Made of alpha and Beta tubulin
   • To form filaments it uses GTP as an energy source
   • The GTP within the between the alpha and beta dimer holds the structure together
   • STAGES
     • 1.) Lag Phase
     • 2.) Elongation
     • 3.)Stable State
   • Polarised
     • Alpha at top, beta at bottom

3. INTERMEDIATE FILAMENTS

   • TYPES
     • Nuclear
       • lining of envelope
     • Vimentin- Like
     • Epithiliel
       • Hair and Nails
     • Axonal
       • Axons
   • STRUCTURE
     • Unlike Actin and Microtubules, are often permanent structure
   • FORMATION
   • Not Polarised
   • Desmosomes join filament of different cells
