polymer
- polymer molecules are very large compared to other molecules. some are made via condensation polymerisation, in this a small molecule is formed by- product each time a bond is formed between molecules. this small molecule is often water.
- the polymer molecules are very large made with many saller molecules joined together, end to end. the smaller molecules are called moomers.
- an example of a condensation polymer is NYLON
- what are polymers
- they are long chain molecules that occur naturally in living things and can be made by chemical processes in industry. plastics are polymers and therefore they can be very useful.
- different polymers have different uses
- poly(ethene) = is plastic bages and bottles.
- poly(propene) =creates and ropes
- poly(chloroethene) = water piper and insulation on electricity cables.

- poly= many mers= small units
- natural polymers
- cotton silk wool rubber fur and paper
- latex is a natural polymer hat can be tapped out from rubber trees

- synthetic polymers
- polythene polypropylene polyester pvc pet
- a polymer structure must be ridge and strong
